Cincinnati Bengals’ half back BenJarvus Green-Ellis (42) fights pressure from New York Giants’ Chase Blackburn (92) as he runs for the first down during the second half of play in their NFL football game at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 11, 2012.This all-AFC North clash is full of postseason implications, with the division the most competitive in the NFL this season – all four teams still have a chance at snatching the division title, and with it, one of the top four seed placings in the AFC for the Playoffs.
At the moment the Bengals are on top of the AFC North – but only just. They are 8-4-1, just marginally ahead of the 8-5 Pittsburgh Steelers and 8-5 Baltimore Ravens. The Cleveland Browns currently occupy the bottom spot in the division with 7-6, but that could change if they can win out the season and their division rivals falter.
In the AFC, the New England Patriots currently occupy the number 1 seed placing, which would secure them home field advantage all the way through to the Super Bowl game. However, they are being chased by the Denver Broncos, and with both of those teams on 10-3 there is still everything to play for and the race could go all the way to the final week of the season.
The Indianapolis Colts are in the 3rd seed position in the AFC with a record of 9-4, which keeps them marginally above the Cincinnati Bengals in 4th who are 8-4-1. Taking up the final two Wild Card spots right now are the Pittsburgh Steelers who are 8-5 and the San Diego Chargers, who have the same record. But the Steelers and the Chargers have no room for mistakes, as there are a stream of other teams chasing them for the Wild Card spots should they slip up. The Baltimore Ravens are in the 7th seed position right now, but are also 8-5, where as the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs are all lined up on 7-6.
Meanwhile, in the NFC, the Arizona Cardinals have managed to snap their losing streak to just about hold onto the number 1 seed position. They are 11-3, but with the Packers coming into this weekend on 10-3 and in the number 2 seed position, they will be able to pull up right alongside the Cardinals with a win
The Philadelphia Eagles are currently in the 3rd seed spot on 9-4, and the Atlanta Falcons take 4th seed position despite being on a lowly 5-8 thanks to the horribly poor NFC South where no team is even close to .500.The 5th and 6th seedings are currently occupied by the Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions who are both on 9-4. Still in the running are the 9-4 Dallas Cowboys, 7-5 San Francisco 49ers, 6-7 Minnesota Vikings and 5-8 New Orleans Saints.
Today’s big game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns will start at 1 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the Fox network or online through Cincinnati vs Cleveland Live Stream.
